DIVE DEEPER INTO ALIEN: ROMULUS

The Evolved Edition of ALIEN The Roleplaying Game features new iconic items, ships and locations from the hugely successful ALIEN: Romulus film, letting players travel back to Jackson’s Star and explore the mining colony all on their own.

Soon after the Kickstarter ends, all backers will get early access to Beta PDFs of the Evolved Edition Core Rulebook, the new Starter Set, and the Rapture Protocol cinematic adventure, months ahead of the official release.

THE COLLECTOR’S EDITION

The special limited edition of  the Evolved Edition Core Rulebook comes with a unique cover design. The special edition is produced specifically for this Kickstarter and will not be printed again – a true collector’s item not to be missed.

THE STARTER SET

The new starter set will be redesigned as the perfect starting point for newcomers to roleplaying in the ALIEN universe, containing everything they need for game night including abridged Evolved Edition rules, character sheets, custom dice, maps, and an expanded edition of the fan-favorite Hope’s Last Day adventure set on Hadley’s Hope just prior to the unforgettable events of Aliens.

RAPTURE PROTOCOL

The new cinematic scenario boxed set, Rapture Protocol, written by Jonathan Hicks (creator of the RPGs Those Dark Places and Pressure) and Free League’s Tomas Härenstam, returns to the roots of the ALIEN franchise, featuring the crew of a small starfreighter on a resupply run to the remote Jeremiah VI industrial colony, soon embroiled in a deadly conflict. Rapture Protocol is the first installment in the upcoming Jeremiah Saga.

MINIATURES SET: RAPTURE PROTOCOL

The ALIEN RPG Miniatures Set: Rapture Protocol includes at least 17 high-quality miniatures in the 28mm scale, perfectly sized for use on the new large-scale full-color maps included in the Hope’s Last Day Starter Set and Rapture Protocol. This first Miniatures Set is specifically designed to bring the events of Rapture Protocol to life, but fully complements other adventures and skirmish battles throughout the ALIEN RPG series. More miniatures will be added as stretch goals.

EVOLVED EXPANSIONS

In addition to the main new items in this Kickstarter, we plan minor updates and reprints of two major game expansions for the ALIEN RPG that are currently very low on stock, or already out of print: Colonial Marines Operations Manual and Building Better Worlds. The contents are only slightly revised, but both books will be given a new interior graphic design in the same style as the new Evolved Edition Core Rulebook.

The Evolved Editions of Colonial Marines Operations Manual and Building Better Worlds are available as separate add-ons, and a copy of each is included in the Engineer Bundle.

VIRTUAL TABLETOPS

Tabletop roleplaying is going online in greater numbers, and we are happy to offer full content modules of the Evolved Edition Core Rulebook, the Hope’s Last Day Starter Set, and the Rapture Protocol cinematic adventure for a wide range of popular platforms. They are all available as Add-Ons in this campaign.

LAST SURVIVOR: PLAYING ALIEN SOLO

The ALIEN RPG Evolved Edition will include complete solo rules, called Last Survivor, by masters of the trade Shawn Tomkin and Matt Click. Your character is the sole surviving crew member of a disaster, outbreak, or incursion, and must use your cunning and adaptability to overcome incredible odds and live to tell the tale.

Whether a shower of meteors, corporate sabotage, a Xenomorph unleashed in the cargo hold, or some dire combination of mishaps will leave your character alone, afraid, and uncertain – the perfect opportunity to survive against all odds.

CREW LAPEL PINS

Enhance your pledge with a set of four stylish 30 mm brass crew lapel pins as used on the starships like the USCSS Nostromo and the USCSS Fidanza. These beautiful pins for Executive Officer, Science Officer, Navigation Officer, and Engineering Crew are based on John Mollo’s original designs for the first ALIEN film. The lapel pin set is available as an add-on, and one set is included in the Xenomorph Bundle and the Engineer Bundle.

THE TEAM

The design team for the ALIEN RPG Evolved Edition is led by Free League co-founder and game designer Tomas Härenstam, continuing his work from the first edition of the game. The massive setting and lore work by Andrew E.C. Gaska remains intact, and the same goes for the award-winning stellar cartography by Clara Fei-Fei Čarija.

Other returning creators include Dave Semark and Paul Elliott (creator of the Hostile RPG), both expanding on their campaign writing from the first edition, our in-house artist Martin Grip, the illustrator John R. Mullaney who adds new detailed 2d schematics of ships and other items from ALIEN: Romulus, and our brand manager Joe LeFavi.

New additions to the team include Johan Nohr (of MÖRK BORG fame) who has created the new graphic design in partnership with our in-house art director Christian Granath, cover artist Colm “Creepy Duck” Geoghegan, interior artist Eren Arık, concept artist Col Price, map artist Miska Fredman, miniatures designer Daniel Fernández-Truchaud, solo rules designers Shawn Tomkin and Matt Click, and last but not least adventure writers Jonathan Hicks, creator of the RPGs Those Dark Places and Pressure, and Connor Alexander, author of the multiple award-winning Coyote & Crow RPG.
